Meet Earl and Princess – Two Tiny Souls in Need of a Miracle
Earl and Princess were facing death on Long Island—not because they did anything wrong, but simply because they are older, have medical issues, and no one stepped forward to save them. Until now.
These two bonded Chihuahuas were pulled off death row by Save-A-Pet USA just in time. Earl suffers from Cushing’s disease and struggles to walk on one of his front legs, and sweet Princess is on heart medication to manage her condition. They’ve been evaluated by veterinary specialists and are now receiving the care they need—but what they need most is a loving home.
Despite their health challenges, Earl and Princess are affectionate, gentle, and full of gratitude for every kind touch and soft bed they’re given. They deserve peace, comfort, and love in their golden years—not a shelter cage, and certainly not a death sentence.
We’re begging for someone with a compassionate heart to open their home to these two brave little dogs. They’ve already been through so much, and all they want is to be together in a safe place where they are cherished for the rest of their days.
Please help us give Earl and Princess the happy ending they deserve. Share, donate, adopt—every bit of help matters. Their lives depend on it.
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to these special pups, please apply today. Let’s give Gem the life she deserves!

Save-A-Pet is a 501c3 no-kill shelter and have rescued and re-homed over 40,000 companion animals. We rely solely on donations. Save-A-Pet is located in the heart of Long Island in Port Jefferson Station. We have a low-cost vaccination and spay/neuter clinic. At Save-A-Pet’s Long Island animal shelter, we believe it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless cats and dogs, and to place them in loving permanent homes. We provide spay and neuter services for Long Island feral cats and any necessary medical care for pets. We work diligently to educate the public, especially children, on the importance of pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals.
