Joseph was nominated by his daughter, Jenna Basile, who said “My father has been a firefighter for over 32 years. He was at 9/11, he was at the Pine Barrens Fires, and many other major events. He is now fire police in his department and has made countless sacrifices to help others. He has deserved recognition for a long time. He is a volunteer and puts his life in danger every day to help others. He is not only my hero but a hero to our community.”
