Meghan Brown was nominated by her mother Cherie, who said, “Hi, I’m nominating my 18 year old daughter Meghan Brown. Meghan started in the Deer Park fire dept at the age of 16 in their juniors program. She is now a sworn in firefighter, off probation volunteering her time while attending St Joseph’s for nursing. As a nurse myself and wife of a police officer, we are proud that she too wants to help others. I see her waking up from a sound sleep at 3am to respond to a call, and then waking once again at 7am for a full day at college. Being a volunteer firefighter is a full time commitment. In addition to responding to calls they have training, mandatory meetings and assist in community events. I’ve seen firsthand now how much time gets devoted to the department from all of their members. These volunteers willingly leave their own families to help yours.”
