Michael was nominated by his wife, Christine, who said, “When my husband is not at work he loves to help the Bay Shore Fire Department. He was a volunteer firefighter from the age of 18 till he was 31. He then took a break since he had so much work with the LIRR and we started a family. We now have two children ages 15 and 19. He missed the fire department everyday, so he applied once again. He has been enjoying the fire department all over again. He gets up in the middle of the night, goes after work even though he is exhausted. With this pandemic it makes things more difficult, but he does all he can. At the age of 48 he loves it like he is 18 again. We are proud of him”.
