Mike Hyland|Honoree for November 7th, 2025

Mike was nominated by his coworkers who say, “Michael Hyland was hired by the Nassau County Police department in March of 2005. Upon graduating the Police Academy he was assigned to the Third Precinct. The Department knew that Michael had a Bachelor’s degree in science and recruited him to go the FBI lab in Washington where he became a ballistics expert. His career took a few twists and turns and he ended up back in Patrol and followed his love of motorcycle riding and ended up in highway Patrol in 2017. Michaels skills on the motorcycle were put to good use as he became an instructor for the motorcycle platoon. On October 6 of this year while doing the job he loved , Michael was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident and was lucky to survive. After weeks in ICU and on life support Michael being the fighter he is was released from Stony Brook Hospital on November 6 and transported to a rehab Facility where his long road to recovery will continue. For his 20 years of service and dedication to the Nassau County Police Department we recognize Michael Hyland.”
