“TINA” is a new documentary about the life and career of the incomparable Tina Turner. It is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max on March 27th. You can check out the trailer now!
Tina says “I’m a girl from a cotton field that pulled myself above the destruction and mistakes...”And I’m here for you”. She started performing in nightclubs in the late ‘50s. In the ‘60s and ’70s, her career took off as part of a duo with her husband Ike Turner. She also made headlines due to her violent abusive relationship with Ike whom she divorced in 1978. Most of these events were chronicled in the 1993 biopic “What’s Love Got To Do With It” starring Angela Bassett who makes an appearance in the documentary. In the ‘80s Tina Turner rose to prominence again in part to her huge 1984 album “Private Dancer”.
Along with interviews with Tina Turner, the documentary “TINA” features never-before-seen archival footage, rare audio, and personal photos.
2021 is a busy year for Tina. She has the documentary, a Broadway musical about her life “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” which is currently on hold due to COVID-19 but is scheduled to return in the fall, and let’s not forget about her Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nomination too.
She is without a doubt living up to her title as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”!
