Cody was nominated by his friend, Irene, who said, “I am nominating Chief Cody Ryan of the Wantagh-Levittown Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Cody joined WLVAC in 2013 and has always gone above and beyond. He has been the top rider of the month multiple times, became an EMT, a MVO, and furthered his certification by becoming an EMT-Critical Care Technician. As Chief, he has led the department to greatness as we increased our district size, changed to 24/7 coverage, and created mutual aid agreements with neighboring depts. He is truly leading WLVAC to the future. He is also responding to every COVID-19 related call that WLVAC has been receiving to support the community”.
Cody would like to add the following: “Our department has done some really great things over the past year. We have always staffed in house crews from 7pm-7am during the week and 24 hours on the weekend. Back in November we started staffing in house crews 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We recently entered two mutual aid agreements. I want to give a shout out to our neighboring department Bellmore-Merrick, the Levittown and Wantagh Fire Departments, and EAB medics for always being there for us when we need the extra help. All of the 8th precinct officers who keep us safe and protect us on every call. Our board and members who have had my back during my term. All of the restaurants and members of the community who have generously donated food and supplies. And last but not least, all of my operations officers who have gone above and beyond working tirelessly around the clock. None of this would be possible without their dedication. I love them all. We want the communities of Levittown and Wantagh to know that our doors are always open and we're here to help”.
