James was nominated by his mother, Joanne, who said, “James started his First Responder career at the age of 14 when he joined the Hauppauge Fire Department explorers program. While volunteering as a firefighter he worked hard and received his EMT certification after high school while taking his college classes. He recently joined the Smithtown Fire Department at age 22, and volunteers for both Fire and EMT calls. He recently completed courses at St Johns University to become a Paramedic. James loves giving back to his community and helping those in need. He is the hardest working guy I know. When the call comes in he is first out the door, day and night. He is an awesome First responder!”
