Remembering an Amazin’ End to an All-Time Season

35 years later, the New York Mets winning it all never gets old!

This month in 1986, Jesse Orosco capped a 108-win season by striking out Boston Red Sox second baseman Marty Barrett and, with a jubilant throw of his glove, the Mets began celebrating becoming World Series champs for the first time since 1969. The ending still gives me goosebumps!

This after a nail-biting Game 6 that my parents kindly let me stay up for.

Props to Jimmy Kimmel for the ESPN documentary “Once Upon a Time in Queens”, which as a lifelong Mets fan I dutifully watched. It didn’t cover any new ground story-wise, but it was still an enjoyable look back!
