The guy who kept the beat in Yes for nearly five decades is gone.
Alan White, long-time drummer for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, passed away a few days ago after a brief illness. He was 72.
He came onboard Yes after Bill Bruford left just before the excellent “Close to the Edge” album came out. Reportedly learning their catalog in a matter of days, White joined the band on the road and remained their drummer for nearly 50 years.
These are among my favorite Alan White performances.
RIP!
