September 8th, 2007, Lynyrd and Skynyrd are inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Now this really seems like an interesting thing because Skynyrd, they call Jacksonville, Florida home. They’ve written a song called “Sweet Home Alabama”, but to my knowledge, no real connection to Georgia, but they’re inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame just the same.
Today in 1994, it’s the MTV Video Music Awards. Chris Cornell and Kim Thayil from Soundgarden are there. They’re there to accept the Best Metal Hard Rock Video Award for their single, “Black Hole Sun”.
On this day in 1965, an ad appears in Variety Magazine “Looking for four insane boys aged 17 to 21 to star in a new TV show.” What’s that TV show? The Monkees.
Today we take a look at the Rock calendar, we find a birthday on it. Born in 1947, bassist and singer for the Cars, the late Benjamin Orr.
