September 11, 2001, the United States are attacked by terrorists. They bring down the Twin Towers in New York City. They attack the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. But plain, ordinary American heroes on a flight who are not willing to let it reach the destination that terrorists want to bring it to bring it down in a field in Pennsylvania. But what we want to do is talk about good things that happened today so that we can turn this day around to be something different.
Like today in rock, September 11th, 1982, John Mellencamp achieves a milestone. He becomes the first male solo artist that has number one album and simultaneously has two top 10 hits. The album, “American Fool.” His 2 top 10 hits, “Hurts So Good” and “Jack And Diane.”
Then as we take a look at the calendar, a couple of Rock birthdays on it. Born today in 1953. Guitarist, singer-songwriter from Styx, Tommy Shaw, and born today in 1943, one of the drummers from the Grateful Dead, Mickey Hart, who was born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island. But he is so much associated with San Francisco because of his time playing in the Grateful Dead.
