RuthAnn Spera-Marrero of St Mary’s Hospital for Children was nominated by her sister, Michelle, who said, “My sister is my health care hero. She works at a hospital with mostly terminally ill kids. Throughout this difficult time, she never lets it get her down. She’ll go into work and sing to the kids, even if they can’t hear or understand her. She comes home after working four 12 hour shifts in a row and is thankful for only a kind word. She works hard as a nurse and then all day as a mother. It’s a tough job, but my sister has a special quality”.

RuthAnn was also nominated by her husband, John, who said, “My wife is a RN at a children’s hospital in Queens. She works 4 to 5 12 hour night shifts a week taking care of children and com a home to take care of our son as well. She does it all with a smile and love for the children”. As well as her friend, Hyunrim, who said, “Thank you for everything that you‘ve done for Covid19 patients. You are the best nurse ever!!!”
