Back in 1994 Tom Petty released his album “Wildflowers”.
It was originally planned as a double album.
Producer Rick Rubin said they recorded over 25 songs during the sessions.
Both while Tom was still alive and after his passing there was discussion of releasing an expanded version of the record.
The plans may not have come to fruition in the past but it seems possible it may happen now.
On Friday June 26th 2020 a post on the Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Facebook page had a link to a video of Tom’s demo for “You Don’t Know How It Feels”.
It is an 8 track recording with Tom playing all the instruments.
There is also some difference in the lyrics.
It seems the song’s writing wasn’t quite completed yet when it was recorded.
Some of that was explained in the Facebook post as well as a tease that this will be part of a “Wildflowers” release.
