“Who’s Next” Turns 50

A shelved rock opera turns 50 this month.

Released in August 1971, “Who’s Next” was initially Pete Townshend’s attempt at a rock opera sequel following the enormous success of “Tommy”. “Lifehouse” was never finished, but many of its songs ultimately turned into The Who’s fourth album. This is the band firing on all cylinders.

“Won’t Get Fooled Again” will always be my favorite tune off of this album.

This tune is an underrated classic.
