Reginald Wooding Jr., 22, was arrested Monday on several charges, including engaging in a drug-trafficking crime while transporting a firearm, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and unlawfully purchasing or receiving a detachable magazine with a capacity of more than ten rounds of ammunition, police said.

He was apprehended after taking his mother’s car to a Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration office for his driver’s test, according to officials.

The woman who was supposed to conduct the test alerted authorities after noticing what smelled like marijuana inside Wooding’s mother’s car, police said. During a search, state troopers said they found nearly one pound of marijuana, a scale, more than $15,000 in suspected drug-related money and a 9mm Glock handgun with a loaded 30-round magazine.

Troopers said Tuesday that Wooding was released on a $7,500 unsecured bond.

He was not able to take his driver’s test, according to police.
