According to WSOC-TV, the Union County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook on Tuesday to introduce the 11-week-old aspiring crime fighter, temporarily dubbed Puppy Doe.

“After a considerable amount of internal time and effort, we cannot determine the best name for this furry fellow, and we need your help!” read the post, which included four photos of the adorable German shepherd. “Sheriff (Eddie) Cathey is requesting the public assist our agency by submitting potential names for this K-9 via our Facebook comments section on this post.”

But a couple of options are already off-limits, WSOC reported.

“Just to give everyone a heads-up, ‘Sir Sitsalot’ and ‘Fluffy’ have been ruled out as potential names,” the agency quipped. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

In addition, the department said participants should take some of the pup’s favorite activities – including “long walks in the park” and “rolling around in the grass while being told not to” – into consideration before making a submission. The fuzzy fellow, whose mother was a K-9, also is “prone to public displays of affection,” likes “tearing up a new tennis ball from time to time,” and “prefers his toys be thrown overhand, not underhand,” according to the post.

The deadline for sending in name suggestions is 8 a.m. Friday, the department said. A community vote featuring the five most popular choices will follow, according to WSOC.
