The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of tens of thousands of BMW SUVs.

BMW is recalling 36,922 BMW X3s from the 2025 and 2026 model years.

The reason? “Unexpected steering wheel movement (rotation)” while the vehicle is stationary, the NHTSA said.

Dealers will fix the issue with a software update, which can also be done over-the-air.

Owners will get letters after Feb. 2, but can call BMW at 800-525-7417.
