July 3rd, 1971 Jim Morrison of The Doors passed away in Paris.

On the 50th anniversary of his passing we remember him with a visit to his final resting place.

After Jim passed there were stories that he may have faked his death.

Much of that came because Jim was a fan of the poet Arthur Rimbaud who had faked his death.

Jim was in Paris to try and escape the spotlight of being a rock star and from the focus on him for some legal issues surrounding alleged obscenity violations during some of The Doors concerts.

Jim was laid to rest at Cimetière du Père-Lachaise in Paris, France.

Morrison, who preferred to be known as a poet, wanted to be buried there because also interred there were poets Oscar Wilde and Honoré de Balzac.

Watch below as we visit Jim’s grave to remember him on the 50th anniversary of his passing.

Below that check out a couple performances from Jim and The Doors.

Jim, you are missed.
