There were also several cases recently among Windsor Castle staff.

Elizabeth had been hospitalized for one night in October for tests and had been under doctors’ orders to rest and only perform light duties.

She had canceled several engagements last year but had been holding in-person and virtual meetings over the past few weeks.

As for the heir to the throne, Prince Charles has not been without potential scandal in recent days due to allegations of a cash for honors scheme, Reuters reported.

The scandals have overshadowed a time of celebration as the queen marked 70 years on the throne on Feb. 6, making her the oldest and longest-reigning monarch, Reuters reported.

She turns 96 years old on April 21, the AP reported.
